Launched in 2016, the "Guardians of the Road – the road of all of us" project aims to raise awareness and deter unsafe driving practices. As of January 1, 2023, the project operates under the Safe Path association.
Citizens aged 18 and older can download the "Road Guards" app and begin documenting traffic violations. Operation is simple and quick: activate the app before driving, and when you witness a violation, initiate the reporting feature. Reporting is easily activated via voice command or by pressing a Bluetooth button on your steering wheel. The app will automatically begin recording video and audio evidence of the infraction.
These documented violations are then transmitted to a control center staffed by experienced volunteer traffic controllers. Following review, a "letter on the way" is sent to the driver, including a link to the recorded video. In cases involving life-threatening violations, reports are immediately forwarded to the police for further investigation and action.
