Rescuing Sam During "Reckoning"

As you approach the culmination of the main quest line, you'll discover that Sam is being held captive at Praguer's Camp, having been captured by Brabant. The rescue mission unfolds during the main quest "Reckoning." To free Sam, you'll need to infiltrate the camp, and you have two primary approaches: stealth or combat.

To move around the camp without raising alarms, you'll need a guard's outfit. You can obtain one by either killing a guard and stealing his uniform, ensuring to hide the body afterward, or by looting one from the numerous chests scattered around the camp. Once you have the outfit equipped, you can freely explore the camp in search of Sam.

Sam is located in the barn on the left side of the camp, beyond the open area with a cooking fire. To reach him, climb the ladder on the side of the barn and drop down inside, where you'll confront Brabant. At this juncture, you face a critical decision: you can either kill or spare Brabant. Choosing to spare him contributes to achieving the best ending, but the final choice is yours.

When to Rescue Sam

After freeing Sam, it's not immediately time to escape with him. He'll inform you about von Aulitz, who is also held within the camp. It's advisable to deal with von Aulitz first, then secure a horse, and finally return to Sam to facilitate his escape. Sam can wait safely, and this sequence makes the tasks more manageable, especially since you'll need to carry him to the horse.

Von Aulitz is located in the main part of the camp. With your guard outfit, the guards at his door will allow you entry without question. You'll find von Aulitz in a dire state, requesting a dignified death. Granting him this wish is the most honorable option, but you can also choose to kill him cruelly or leave him to die slowly. Interestingly, leaving him to die actually aids in securing the best ending.

Once you've dealt with von Aulitz, your next steps are to retrieve Sam and find a horse. Sam remains in the barn where you left him. If questioned by a guard about moving him, simply state that you're handling a body, which will dispel any suspicion. Proceed to the camp's gates, exit, and turn right to circumvent the camp's perimeter.

Following the camp's edge, you'll arrive at the stables. Select a horse, and with Sam in tow, make your escape. This action brings you one step closer to completing *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's* main quests and achieving the coveted best ending.
