Semine or Hashek: Best Outcome in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2's Necessary Evil Quest

by Victoria Apr 15,2025

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the main story quest "Necessary Evil" presents players with some of the game's most challenging moral choices, particularly when deciding whether to side with Semine or Hashek. Here's a detailed guide to help you navigate through this quest.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Necessary Evil Quest Walkthrough

After completing the "Back in the Saddle" quest, you can start "Necessary Evil." Von Bergow tasks Hans and Henry with gathering information from Nebakov Fortress and interrogating a prisoner. The outcome of this interrogation will influence whether von Bergow targets Semine or Nebakov Fortress. This walkthrough focuses on choosing Semine, where the moral decisions are more complex.

Prisoner Interrogation Answers

During the interrogation, you'll need to pass Speech checks. You can either use threats or resort to torture to extract information. Here are the Speech check requirements:

  • "We’ll put in a good word for you." (20 Impression)
  • "Istvan and I are old acquaintances." (20 Impression)
  • "Otherwise, it’ll end badly for you." (17 Intimidation)

After the interrogation, you'll learn about the bandit leader’s identity and Semine’s involvement. When reporting back to von Bergow, you can either reveal Young Semine's alliance with the bandits, leading to an attack on the town, or claim that no one helped the bandits, which will result in an attack on Nebakov.

Should You Attack Semine or Nebakov?

Choosing to attack Semine requires you to ride with the party and face more complex decisions involving Hashek. Opting for Nebakov means von Bergow will handle the bandits there, concluding the quest immediately.

While attacking Nebakov avoids bloodshed in Semine, letting Semine off without consequences is morally questionable given his role in the deaths of many innocents. Personally, I chose to attack Semine, as it felt like the right course of action, despite my familiarity with the town from earlier in the game.

Remember, if you choose to attack Semine, you must ride with the party. Falling behind will lead to the town's slaughter. Accompanying them gives you a chance to intervene.

Should You Side With Semine or Hashek?

Before the ride to Semine, you can talk to Hashek, who clearly seeks revenge and the most violent path possible.

Upon arrival, you must decide between siding with Semine or Hashek. Choose "Hashek is right" to side with Hashek, or "Olda deserves a trial" to side with Semine.

I recommend siding with Semine. Although Semine was wrong to aid the bandits, Hashek's desire for destruction would result in more innocent lives lost. As I played Henry as a morally upright character, it was fitting for him to stop Hashek.

After defeating Hashek, advise the Semines to burn their estate and flee, which will advance the quest to your next objective: reporting to von Bergow.

If you side with Hashek, everyone in town will be killed. You can also find Olda in the tower and decide his fate.

Should You Tell von Bergow or Let Hans Talk?

The final step involves reporting back to von Bergow. You can either remain silent and let Hans handle the conversation or speak up about what happened at Semine.

I suggest staying silent and letting Hans speak. He's a better diplomat, and this approach will keep both you and Hans in von Bergow's favor, leading to plans for Nebakov.

This guide covers everything you need to know about the choice between Semine and Hashek in the "Necessary Evil" quest of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. For more tips and information on the game, including romance options and where to find Goatskin, be sure to check out The Escapist.
