Akupara Games and Tmesis Studio's latest offering, Universe for Sale, is a captivating adventure game set on a Jupiter space station. This bizarre, acid-rain-soaked bazaar is home to witty orangutans, cultists trading flesh for enlightenment, and a woman named Lila who can create universes from her hand.
Is the Cosmos Truly for Sale?
The game begins with the player controlling the Master, a skeletal cultist from the Cult of Detachment, landing in a dilapidated mining colony. Exploring this ramshackle settlement, filled with quirky shops, leads to Honin's Tea House, Lila's establishment. The narrative unfolds through alternating perspectives between Lila and the Master, gradually revealing Lila's mysterious universe-creating abilities.
Playing as Lila involves a mini-game where players mix ingredients to generate visually stunning worlds. The Master's journey delves into the philosophies of the Cult of Detachment and encounters with the Church of Many Gods. The story unfolds through rich character interactions and detailed environmental storytelling, inviting exploration of every corner of this unique world.
