James Gunn and Peter Safran have confirmed that The Brave and the Bold will introduce a new Batman to the DC Universe (DCU), explicitly excluding Robert Pattinson.
During a DC Studios presentation, Safran and Gunn clarified that Pattinson's Batman remains exclusive to Matt Reeves' "Batman Epic Crime Saga." Gunn stated definitively, "It's certainly not the plan. No." Safran added, "And we love him, but we've got to introduce a Batman into the DCU. That's imperative. And so that's the plan with The Brave and the Bold."
This clarification follows earlier speculation fueled by Reeves himself, who previously hinted at the possibility of Pattinson's Batman appearing in broader DCU projects.

Reeves emphasized his focus on the "Epic Crime Saga," stating his desire to fully develop that storyline. While acknowledging uncertainty about the future, he confirmed his commitment to The Batman Part 2. Safran expressed enthusiasm for Reeves' vision, noting the encouraging progress on the script.
The Brave and the Bold is currently in active development, with Gunn and Safran actively shaping the script. Andy Muschietti's involvement as director remains pending, contingent on the finalized script. Further announcements regarding The Brave and the Bold are promised soon.
The delayed release of The Batman Part 2 to October 1, 2027, raises questions about The Brave and the Bold's release window. Safran only confirmed a Batman film for October 2027.
A brief, silhouetted appearance of Batman in Creature Commandos Episode 6 subtly established his pre-existing presence and renown within the DCU, eliminating the need for an origin story. Gunn explained the stylistic choice, stating he preferred a more ambiguous silhouette.
Gunn's comments to Rotten Tomatoes TV further hinted at a future team-up between the DCU Batman and Superman: "This is the DCU Batman… I love him. He's one of my favorite characters… He's the most popular superhero in the world and I can't wait for people to see more of him, along with Superman, and together.”
