Elder Scrolls IV Remake Rumors Gain Traction with New Discovery

Rumored Oblivion Remake Fuels Fan Excitement for 2025

A LinkedIn profile belonging to a developer strongly suggests an Oblivion remake, powered by Unreal Engine 5, is currently under development. This adds significant weight to persistent rumors and leaks surrounding the project. Many anticipate an official reveal during a potential Xbox Developer Direct in 2025, though this event remains unconfirmed. The anticipation extends beyond Oblivion; a new Elder Scrolls VI trailer is also highly desired by fans before the year's end.

The possibility of an Oblivion remake has circulated for years, with speculation in 2023 suggesting a 2024 or 2025 release. In late December 2024, Xbox insider Jez Corden predicted a January 2025 unveiling during an Xbox Developer Direct. Given past Developer Directs in January 2023 and 2024, this remains a plausible scenario. The latest evidence significantly strengthens the case for an imminent announcement.

A Technical Art Director at Virtuos, the studio reportedly working on the project, lists an "unannounced Unreal Engine 5 remake for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S" on their LinkedIn profile. While the game isn't explicitly named, the context and engine specification strongly point towards Oblivion, suggesting a full remake rather than a simple remaster. It's worth noting that plans for a Fallout 3 remaster also surfaced in late 2023, but its current status is unclear.

LinkedIn Profile Reinforces Oblivion Remake Speculation

Oblivion, the sequel to 2002's Morrowind, captivated players in 2006 with its expansive world, impressive graphics (for its time), and memorable soundtrack. Since 2012, the dedicated Skyblivion modding community has been painstakingly recreating Oblivion within Skyrim's engine. A recent update from the Skyblivion team hinted at a 2025 release for their ambitious project.

The future of the Elder Scrolls franchise remains somewhat shrouded in mystery. The only trailer for Elder Scrolls VI debuted in 2018. Bethesda Game Studios has confirmed it as their next major title following Starfield, with director Todd Howard suggesting a release timeframe of "15 to 17 years after Skyrim." While a concrete release date is still distant, fans are hopeful for a fresh trailer before the close of 2025.
