Final Fantasy XVI director, Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P), has politely requested fans to avoid creating or installing "offensive or inappropriate" mods for the PC release.
Final Fantasy XVI PC Launch: September 17th
Yoshi-P's Plea for Respectful Modding
In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Yoshida addressed the upcoming PC launch and urged the community to maintain respectful modding practices. While declining to specify inappropriate content, he emphasized a strong preference against the creation or use of offensive or inappropriate modifications.
Yoshida cleverly sidestepped a question about desired "goofy" mods, focusing instead on the importance of avoiding harmful or objectionable content. He stated, "If we said 'It'd be great if someone made xyz,' it might come across as a request, so I'll avoid mentioning any specifics here! The only thing I will say is that we definitely don't want to say anything offensive or inappropriate, so please don't make or install anything like that."
His experience with previous Final Fantasy titles likely exposed him to a range of mods, some of which were deemed unacceptable. While the modding community offers creative content, including graphical enhancements and cosmetic crossovers (like the Half-Life costume mod for FFXV), NSFW and other offensive materials exist. Yoshida's request directly addresses this concerning aspect of the modding scene. Examples of such mods include those that replace character models with explicit content using high-resolution textures.
The PC release boasts improvements like a 240fps frame rate cap and advanced upscaling technologies. Yoshida's appeal for respectful modding aims to maintain a positive and inclusive environment for all players.
