After hitting a home run with their sci-fi, fantasy, open world RPG Tower of Fantasy, developers Hotta Studio have announced their newest project, the upcoming open-world RPG Neverness to Everness. Blending a supernatural urban story with some expansive lifestyle content, there is bound to be something for everyone to enjoy at launch.
Welcome to this weird and wonderful world
As you step foot into the vast metropolis of Hethereau, you might get the sense that something isn't quite right. Maybe it’s the trees, maybe it’s the people, or maybe it's that otter that just wandered past with the television head. Things get no less weird in the dark, as midnight brings forth a gang of graffiti-covered skateboards running amok.
More than just an adventure
As enjoyable as the typical combat and exploration aspects are in these games, I personally appreciate having lifestyle activities to engage in. Neverness to Everness has surprisingly incorporated a great deal of this, with the urban environment allowing you to truly establish yourself thanks to numerous activities.
Do you like the appearance of that sports car that just sped past? Well, you can purchase one or more of your own, and even customize it. Make it in your own unique style and race into the night for some high-octane excitement. For those homebodies among you, get on the virtual property market and buy your own house. Then, embark on your own version of Extreme Makeover Heathereau Edition and design it as you wish. There's even more to explore in the city, you just need to get out there.
As with many of these open-world games now, you unfortunately do need to be online constantly. A bit frustrating, but a sad reality of the present.
A visual feast
For those who appreciate detailed design, here are the specifications. Neverness to Everness utilizes Unreal Engine 5, employing its Nanite Virtualized Geometry system for realistic urban environments. Explore the city's shops; each is brimming with intricate details. Combined with NVIDIA DLSS rendering and ray tracing, the graphics are truly impressive.Hotta Studio has also meticulously crafted the lighting in Hethereau's dark, sprawling cityscape. Stepping outside reveals a skyline of skyscrapers punctuated by eerie illumination, creating a mysterious atmosphere. Considering the ongoing events and unusual dangers, this ambiance feels perfectly appropriate.
If all of this sounds appealing and you're eager to play, then unfortunately you'll have to be patient as Neverness to Everness won't be released soon, and we don't yet have a release date. What we do know, however, is that it will be free, and you can pre-order it while you wait via the official website.
