Jack Quaid, star of the hit series "The Boys," recently expressed his enthusiasm for potentially starring in a live-action adaptation of the beloved video game BioShock. In a Reddit AMA, which was scheduled to promote his latest film, "Novocaine," Quaid highlighted the deep and intricate lore of BioShock, suggesting it has the potential to be brilliantly explored through a movie or TV series.
"I would actually love to be in a live-action adaptation of BioShock - one of my favorite games of all time," Quaid stated. "I think there's such a rich lore to that game that could be explored in a TV or movie adaptation."
The feasibility of a BioShock movie coming to fruition remains uncertain. Producer Roy Lee, in an update last July, noted that following leadership shifts at Netflix, the BioShock adaptation has undergone a "reconfiguration." This change aims to craft a "more personal" narrative, influenced by budget constraints imposed by the new regime at Netflix. Despite these adjustments, details on the plot remain undisclosed. Notably, Francis Lawrence, the acclaimed director of "The Hunger Games," continues to be associated with the project.
"The new regime has lowered the budgets," Lee explained. "So we’re doing a much smaller version. It’s going to be a more personal point of view, as opposed to a grander, big project."
In addition to his interest in BioShock, Quaid's physical resemblance to the iconic video game character Max Payne has not gone unnoticed by fans. This likeness has been particularly evident in scenes from his new film "Novocaine," leading some to speculate if it's a covert Max Payne adaptation. Quaid himself acknowledged the resemblance, admitting he has yet to play Max Payne, though it's on his list following the game's upcoming remake by Remedy and Rockstar.
"I've seen people say that I look like Max Payne, and when I've looked at the box art, even I did a double-take," Quaid mentioned. "I love Rockstar's games, but unfortunately, I've never played that one - it's next on the list, for sure."
Quaid also shared his passion for FromSoftware's challenging games, such as Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring. He described himself as a "huge video game nerd" and frequently turns to Reddit for strategies to conquer FromSoftware's notorious bosses.
"I'm a huge video game nerd," he said. "And lately, I've been diving headfirst into the FromSoftware library. I beat Bloodborne, then I beat Sekiro, and now I'm going full boar into Elden Ring. Actually, the thing I use Reddit the most for is tips and tricks on beating Fromsoft's bosses. I love how challenging the games are - it took me a while to get into them, but now I'm obsessed."
