Keanu Reeves offers the most encouraging Constantine 2 update yet, confirming the project is ready for a script.
John Constantine, the occult detective and exorcist from DC Comics, was memorably portrayed by Reeves in the 2005 film adaptation, a cult classic that followed his success with The Matrix. For two decades, fans have clamored for a sequel, a desire Reeves has openly shared.
Now, Constantine 2 appears closer to reality after Reeves confirmed a recent successful pitch meeting at DC Studios.
"We've been pursuing this film for over a decade, and we recently finalized a story, pitched it to DC Studios, and they approved," Reeves told Inverse. "So, we're moving forward with script development."

While promising, it's crucial to remember that DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran haven't officially greenlit the script. Constantine 2 remains unconfirmed within the rebooted DCU, and hasn't been publicly acknowledged by Gunn or Safran. The project's future remains uncertain.
However, Reeves hinted that, if produced, Constantine 2 will remain faithful to the original film's universe. "We're staying true to that world," he assured, adding with a playful tone: "John Constantine will face even more torment."
Reeves' statement follows comments from producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura in September, who revealed a completed script for Constantine 2 but admitted his apprehension about reading it.
Speaking to ComicBook, di Bonaventura stated the script was in his inbox, confessing, "It's funny, it's in my inbox right now. I'm too scared to read it though, I want it to be good so bad. I’ll probably read it in the next few days, when I get on an airplane."
