Resident Evil Creator Wants Cult Classic, Killer7, to Get a Sequel By Suda51

The mastermind behind Resident Evil stated his enthusiasm for a continuation to Suda51’s Killer7 during a recent presentation. Read on to learn more about what the two creators shared about the cult classic.

Mikami and Suda Tease Potential Killer7 Sequel and Complete EditionKiller7: Beyond or Killer11?

Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and Killer7 visionary Goichi ‘Suda 51’ Suda discussed the possibility of both a sequel and a complete edition of the cult classic Killer7 during yesterday's Grasshopper Direct.

The presentation primarily focused on the upcoming Hella Remastered version of their 2011 game, Shadows of the Damned. However, when asked about future projects, Mikami said, "I’d love to see Suda make a sequel to Killer7," as it is one of his "personal favorite games."

Suda51 echoed Mikami’s enthusiasm, stating, "someday we may just see a Killer7 sequel." He playfully suggested possible titles, like "Killer11" or something along the lines of "Killer7: Beyond".

Resident Evil Creator Wants Cult Classic, Killer7, to Get a Sequel By Suda51

Killer7 is a cult classic action-adventure game that blends elements of horror, mystery, and Suda51’s signature over-the-top violence. Released in two thousand five for the GameCube and PlayStation two, the game follows Harman Smith, an elderly man who can manifest seven distinct personalities, each with unique abilities and weapons. Despite garnering a cult following, the game has yet to receive a sequel. However, even with the game’s remastered PC release in two thousand eighteen, Suda51 expressed a desire to further explore his original vision.

"I’d rather make a Complete Edition of Killer7," Suda51 said. Mikami jokingly dismissed this idea as "kind of lame." Despite the playful banter, the people at the table explained that the original vision for the game included extensive dialogue for the character Coyote, which could be restored in a Complete Edition.

The mere mention of a potential sequel and complete edition sent fans into a frenzy, eager to return to the game's stylish visuals and unique gameplay. While no concrete details have been confirmed, the developers' enthusiasm alone has ignited excitement for Killer7's future.

Mikami concluded that fans would likely appreciate a Complete Edition of Killer7, to which Suda51 responded, "We’d have to decide which comes first, Killer7: Beyond or the Complete Edition."
