Marvel Rivals Dev Promises a New Hero Every Month and a Half

by Madison Feb 26,2025

NetEase Games has confirmed a robust post-launch content plan for Marvel Rivals, promising a new hero every six weeks. This commitment, revealed by Creative Director Guangyun Chen in an interview with Metro, ensures a steady stream of fresh characters alongside seasonal content updates.

Each three-month season will be divided into two halves, each introducing a new playable hero. Chen emphasized the goal of continuously enhancing the player experience and maintaining community engagement.

"Every season will bring new seasonal stories, maps, and heroes. We're splitting each season in half," Chen stated. "A new hero will launch with each half-season. We aim to continually improve the experience and keep our community excited."

The rapid release schedule raises the question of which heroes will be featured in future seasons. Season 1: Eternal Night Falls successfully launched with Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman in the first half, followed by The Thing and the Human Torch in the second. Maintaining this level of anticipation and delivering iconic Marvel characters consistently will be a significant challenge.

Marvel Rivals boasts a strong initial roster including Wolverine, Magneto, Spider-Man, Jeff the Landshark, and Storm. However, the vast Marvel universe offers countless possibilities for future additions. Rumors suggest Blade's appearance in Season 2, while fans eagerly anticipate characters like Daredevil and other X-Men. NetEase's continued success with Marvel Rivals indicates a commitment to expanding the roster.

Season 1 also included significant balance adjustments and gameplay refinements, with further improvements planned for future updates.
