Overwatch 2's Exciting Return to China
Overwatch 2 is making a grand return to China on February 19, aligning with the start of Season 15. This highly anticipated relaunch brings a host of rewards and events for Chinese players, including access to Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 through 9 and engaging in-game festivities.
The journey back to China began with a successful technical test from January 8 to 15, which allowed fans to dive into content they've missed, such as Overwatch: Classic and the six new heroes introduced since the servers went offline in China during Season 2. Following the conclusion of the test, Overwatch 2's game director, Aaron Keller, shared exciting news on Xiaohongshu (also known as RedNote) about a multi-week "Return to China" celebration. This event will feature popular in-game events and rewards that Chinese players have missed over the past two years. Additionally, all Chinese players will have the opportunity to earn Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 and 2 before the game's relaunch, and from Seasons 3 through 9 through in-game events post-relaunch.
Chinese Mythology in Overwatch 2 Season 15
Season 15 of Overwatch 2 is set to be a cultural celebration with skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology. While details are sparse, it's unclear whether these skins will be new creations or existing ones, if they'll be exclusive to China, or if they might be part of a broader Chinese mythology theme for the season. This follows the trend seen in Season 14, which was heavily influenced by Norse mythology.
The global Overwatch 2 community won't have to wait long to uncover more about Season 15, as it kicks off on February 18, just before the official relaunch in China. More information is expected to be revealed in early February, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.
In the meantime, players worldwide can participate in the "Min 1, Max 3" 6v6 test from January 21 to February 4, featuring the classic 2-2-2 team composition. Additionally, the Lunar New Year and Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic events are scheduled before Season 15, promising plenty of excitement. While Chinese players may not be able to join these specific events, they can look forward to their own unique celebrations upon the game's return.
