Yukiko's Castle is the first major dungeon players will explore in Persona 4 Golden. Although it spans only seven floors, players will encounter numerous challenges and gain valuable insights into the game mechanics, gradually easing into the combat system.
While the initial floors present minimal difficulty, the later floors introduce players to the formidable Magical Magus, the strongest enemy you'll randomly encounter in the dungeon. Here's a detailed look at its affinities and strategies to defeat it effectively.
Magical Magus Weakness & Skills In Persona 4 Golden
Null | Strong | Weak |
---|---|---|
Fire | Wind | Light |
The Magical Magus boasts several skills that can inflict significant damage if you're unprepared. Its attacks primarily focus on fire damage, making fire-resistance accessories found in golden chests throughout Yukiko's Castle invaluable. These accessories are not only crucial for battling the Magical Magus but also enhance your chances of success in the final boss fight.
When you notice the Magical Magus gathering magic power, it's wise to guard during the next turn as it often unleashes Agilao, a tier two fire spell that deals boosted damage and can easily knock out an unprepared party member. Additionally, its Hysterical Slap delivers substantial physical damage, striking twice, though not as devastating as Agilao, which remains its primary threat. Given that the protagonist is the only character who can acquire light skills early in the game, it's advisable for Chie and Yosuke to focus on guarding during this encounter to avoid being knocked out.
Early-Game Persona With A Light Skill In Persona 4 Golden
The best early-game Persona equipped with a light skill is Archangel, which naturally possesses Hama. Archangel also learns Media at level 12, a skill that will prove invaluable in the final floor's boss fight. As a level 11 Persona, Archangel can be fused using:
- Slime (Level 2)
- Forneus (Level 6)
In Persona 4 Golden, light and dark skills are exclusively insta-kill variants, meaning Hama serves as an instant-kill attack that exploits the enemy's weakness. This ensures it almost always hits and results in an instant kill, making one of the dungeon's toughest enemies surprisingly easy to defeat. Thanks to its high level, the Magical Magus can be a lucrative enemy to farm, provided you have items to restore your SP or if you're willing to enter the boss fight with reduced SP.
