Prominent YouTuber Faces Kidnapping Charges

Summary

  • Popular YouTuber Corey Pritchett is charged with aggravated kidnapping and has left the US.
  • Pritchett posted a video from abroad, making light of the charges and his flight.
  • His potential return to the US and the case's outcome are currently unknown.

US-based YouTube personality Corey Pritchett, known for his family vlogs, challenges, and pranks, is facing serious accusations. He's been charged with two counts of aggravated kidnapping, a development that has shocked his approximately 5 million subscribers across two channels ("CoreySSG" and "CoreySSG Live"). One of his most viewed videos, "LET’S HAVE A BABY PRANK," has over 12 million views.

The alleged kidnapping incident occurred on November 24, 2024, in southwest Houston. According to reports from ABC13, Pritchett met two women (ages 19 and 20) at a gym. After a day of activities, including ATV riding and bowling, Pritchett allegedly threatened them at gunpoint, drove them at high speed on I-10, and confiscated their phones, claiming he intended to kill them. The women reported Pritchett expressed anxiety about being pursued and mentioned accusations of arson.

Pritchett's Flight and Mocking Video

After stopping his vehicle and allegedly giving the women a chance to escape, they walked for over an hour before contacting authorities. Charged with two counts of aggravated kidnapping on December 26, 2024, Pritchett had already fled the country. He reportedly flew to Doha, Qatar, on December 9th on a one-way ticket and is believed to be in Dubai, where he posted a video taunting the warrants and joking about being a fugitive. This contrasts with the serious situation faced by another former streamer, Johnny Somali, who is facing potential new charges in South Korea.

The future of this case is uncertain. Whether Pritchett will return to the US to face the charges remains unknown. This situation echoes the 2023 kidnapping of YouTuber YourFellowArab in Haiti, who was eventually released after a harrowing experience with a gang, details of which he later shared online.
