Marvel Rivals Season 1: Mastering Recursive Destruction in Midtown

Season 1 of Marvel Rivals is here, bringing new characters, maps, and modes, along with a fresh set of challenges rewarding players with freebies, including a Thor skin. This guide focuses on unlocking Recursive Destruction in Empire of Eternal Night: Midtown.

Understanding Recursive Destruction

The initial challenge in the "Blood Moon Over the Big Apple" series requires triggering Recursive Destruction. This involves destroying Dracula-influenced objects that then reappear in their original form. However, not all destructible objects work; only specific ones will trigger this effect.

Locating Destructible Objects

To identify these objects, utilize Chrono Vision. Activated via the "B" key (keyboard) or the right D-pad button (console), Chrono Vision highlights destructible items in red. Only red-highlighted objects will trigger Recursive Destruction.

Completing the Midtown Challenge

This challenge is exclusive to the Quick Match (Midtown) mode. After loading into the game, focus on the initial objective—defending or attacking the Fantasticar. Initially, no red-highlighted objects will be visible. You must wait for the first checkpoint; this is when two buildings appear, capable of triggering Recursive Destruction.

During the match, prioritize destroying these buildings. The reappearance might be missed in the heat of battle, but several hits should suffice. If you fail to trigger Recursive Destruction three times, simply replay the match. Once completed, move on to the next challenges, which introduce the new characters, Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman.

Marvel Rivals is currently available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
