Rust's latest update, "The Crafting Update," significantly expands the game's crafting and survival mechanics. A new culinary workbench lets players grill chicken legs and even enjoy them with Siberian vodka! Recipes are required for cooking, and successfully prepared meals offer valuable stat boosts and gameplay modifiers.
Domesticating chickens is now possible with the addition of coops. These feathered friends lay eggs and require care, with each chick possessing Hunger, Thirst, Love, and Sunlight attributes that must be maintained to prevent their demise. Chicken meat spoils over time, necessitating refrigeration for preservation. Food spoilage is now clearly indicated with timers.
Sweetening the deal, wild beehives have been added to the game, offering honeycombs. These require careful extraction and relocation to player-built hives crafted from wooden boxes. However, be warned: bees are aggressive! Players need protective suits, water, or flamethrowers to harvest safely. A new weapon, the Bee Grenade (a honey jar that releases aggressive bee swarms), adds a thrilling new element of danger.
The engineering workbench has undergone a complete overhaul, introducing separate tech trees for plumbing and electricity. This allows for complex automated systems and even factory construction. Finally, premium servers have been introduced, exclusively for players with a Rust inventory valued at $15 or more. This aims to create a more positive experience for dedicated players by filtering out cheaters and disruptive behavior.
