Director Shawn Levy, fresh off the success of Deadpool & Wolverine, is reportedly setting his sights on the Star Wars universe, and he's looking to bring Ryan Gosling along for the journey. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Levy's Star Wars project, which has been in development since 2022, is now in negotiations with the acclaimed actor to star in the film. The script, penned by Jonathan Tropper, who previously collaborated with Levy on This Is Where I Leave You and The Adam Project, has been in the works since last year.
While details about the plot remain under wraps, it's known that the film will not be part of the Skywalker Saga and is intended to be a standalone movie. There's no information yet on the era in which the story will be set or the character Gosling might portray. The involvement of Gosling is said to have accelerated the project's timeline, potentially making it Levy's next directorial venture. Originally, Levy was slated to helm a boy band movie with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, but with Gosling's possible inclusion, production on the Star Wars film is set to commence in the fall.
