Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew Griffin, confirms Hollow Knight: Silksong is still under active development and will eventually launch. Recent speculation, fueled by a cake-related profile picture change by a co-creator, proved unfounded. However, Griffin's confirmation on X (formerly Twitter) provides much-needed reassurance to eager fans. This marks the first official update in eighteen months.
Initially announced in February 2019 with a projected release in the first half of 2023, Silksong was delayed in May 2023 due to its expanded scope and the developers' commitment to quality. The game promises a new kingdom, nearly 150 new enemies, and a challenging "Silk Soul" mode. While the delay has caused some impatience among fans, Griffin's statement confirms the game's continued progress.
The long-awaited sequel follows Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, on a perilous journey to a new kingdom. Silksong is slated for release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. A concrete release date remains unannounced, but fans can anticipate further updates in the future.
