How to Obtain Tier II/Fine Gear in Avowed

by Gabriel Apr 17,2025

In *Avowed*, upgrading your weapons is crucial for keeping up with the game's increasing difficulty. Early on, you'll mostly encounter Common, or Level I, weapons and enemies. As you progress, these will scale up to Level II, necessitating Fine gear to handle the challenge effectively. Here's how you can acquire Tier II/Fine weapons and armor in *Avowed*.

How to Upgrade Weapons and Armor from Common (I) to Fine (II) in Avowed

In *Avowed*, some weapons and armor come as Fine Quality right from the start, either by spawning in the world or being available for purchase. However, many pieces will need to be upgraded to reach Fine status. Gear effectiveness in *Avowed* is tracked through two main aspects: Quality and level. Quality is denoted by a descriptor, color, and Roman Numeral. Common gear, which is green, is marked with a I, while Fine gear, which is blue, is marked with a II. Additionally, there are three incremental levels between each Quality, ranging from +1 to +3.

To elevate your gear from Common (I) to Fine (II), you'll need to visit a Party Camp. Each Party Camp features a workbench where you can upgrade your equipment. You must sequentially upgrade through the +1, +2, and +3 levels, each requiring specific materials based on the gear type. Once you've reached the +3 upgrade, you can then advance to Fine (II), which requires Adra—a rare and valuable crystal. Adra can be obtained through completing Quests, purchasing from Merchants, or by breaking down Unique weapons and armor.

Where to Find and Purchase Fine (II) Weapons and Armor in Avowed

While upgrading is a viable option, it can be resource-intensive. Alternatively, Fine (II) weapons and armor can occasionally be found within the Living Lands, particularly in Dawnshore early in your playthrough. These can drop from Level II enemies, especially Bounties. However, using Common gear against Level II enemies will result in lower damage output and reduced resistance, so ensure you have ample health potions on hand.

Fine weapons and armor are also available for purchase from certain Merchants in Paradis. Access to Paradis becomes available to the Envoy shortly after defeating the Dreamscourge-infested bear boss in Dawnshore, early in the Main Quest. A pair of sister Merchants in Paradis, near the Bounty Board, offer some valuable Fine gear. Merlylin specializes in magical items like grimoires and wands, while her blacksmith sister sells standard weapons and armor at the adjacent stall (as shown in the image above).

And that’s the complete guide on how to obtain Fine weapons and armor in *Avowed*.
