NieR: Automata's opening introduces 2B's mission. After deploying and engaging in melee combat, you'll acquire a one-handed and a two-handed sword.
The two-handed weapon, the Virtuous Treaty, is a powerful sword temporarily lost after the prologue. However, it's quickly recoverable once free-roaming is unlocked in the subsequent chapter.

Where To Find the Virtuous Treaty in NieR: Automata
This early-game weapon is located near your initial spawn point after leaving the bunker. Upon landing in the city ruins, descend to the lower area. To your left, you'll see a highway above the nearest access point. Proceed towards the highway, utilizing the ruins to climb onto the road. This path leads back towards the factory.
Descent into the factory and follow the grassy path to the main structure. To the left, you'll find another access point with stairs leading upwards. In this upper area, locate the destroyed bridge (where you fought the Goliath-class enemy). The Virtuous Treaty is embedded in the ground at the bridge's edge.
Your old body, containing consumables from the prologue, is located just to the right of the sword.

Virtuous Treaty Stats in NieR: Automata
- Attack: 300-330
- Combo: Lt 2 Hv 2
Typical of two-handed weapons, the Virtuous Treaty excels at wide-sweeping attacks, dealing significant damage to multiple enemies. However, its attack speed is slow. Upgrades can potentially make it one of the game's highest-damage weapons, provided you adapt to its slower pace. Combining it with a faster weapon via a heavy attack during a combo mitigates the slow speed while still leveraging its high damage output. While this won't allow a full combo with the Virtuous Treaty, it adds a powerful burst within a quicker sequence.
