The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 premieres May 4, 2025, as exclusively revealed at IGN Fan Fest 2025. IGN showcased an exclusive clip and interviews with Scott Gimple, chief content officer of The Walking Dead universe, Lauren Cohan (Maggie), and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan).
Cohan described Maggie's mental state entering Season 2: "Sadly, not everything is quite as rosy as it could be, or seems, or one would hope. My son is still a teenage boy, and there are these natural tensions of navigating family life. I’ve got Ginny in my care, a teenage girl. So, there are very relatable domestic dynamics playing out alongside the apocalyptic world—trying to eat, stay safe, and sleep. That's where we find ourselves before another big bad thing happens."
Morgan discussed Negan's shift from villain to fan favorite: "We find Negan very much under the thumb of The Dama and The Croat, on unfamiliar ground. He'll try to flip the script, of course, but he's in a place he's not enjoying. At the season's start, he's struggling. He's always scheming, trying to get on top, but he's in a tough spot." He also commented on Lucille: "The Lucille of it all… I love that thing! It's the only prop I've ever enjoyed carrying around. It brings back fond memories—not for Lauren!"
Gimple discussed Season 2's conflict: "There's no single big bad. There's a lot of shifting in the power rankings. It isn't all antagonistic; it's more complex, more political, and then we get physical."
