Tarneeb is a card game played by two teams, each consisting of two players sitting opposite each other. The game uses a standard 52-card deck, and play proceeds counter-clockwise. Each player attempts to estimate the number of "Allmat" (tricks) their team will win in a round.
The player who wins the bid to declare "Tarneeb" throws a type of paper onto the floor. Other players must then throw the same type of paper. The first to successfully match the paper type wins the trick ("Bamh"). If a player doesn't have a matching paper, they forfeit their "Tarneeb" option. "Tarneeb" papers are considered more powerful than any other type; the player who throws the strongest "Tarneeb" paper wins, unless a stronger one is played.
A round ends when all players have played their cards. Points are tallied. A team only scores points if they meet or exceed their bid for the number of "Allmat" they predicted. If successful, they add their won "Allmat" to their score; the opposing team receives no points. If unsuccessful, their score is reduced by their bid, and the opposing team adds their won "Allmat" to their score.
If either team achieves 13 tricks without bidding for 13, 16 points are added to their total. If a team bids for and achieves 13 tricks, they receive 26 points. If a team bids for 13 tricks and fails, 16 points are deducted from their total.
The game concludes when one team reaches a total score of 41 or more points. That team is declared the winner.
