Recent Windows 11 updates caused compatibility problems for several Assassin's Creed titles. Ubisoft has addressed this issue with patches for Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Valhalla, restoring functionality for these games. However, some Ubisoft games, notably Assassin's Creed Odyssey, may still experience problems after the Windows 11 24H2 update.
The Windows 11 24H2 update, while introducing features like Wi-Fi 7 support and AI Copilot+, inadvertently disrupted the performance of certain games. Ubisoft swiftly released updates for Origins (230 MB) and Valhalla (500 MB), readily available through Steam, resolving launch and functionality issues for these titles.
While these fixes are welcome news, reports persist regarding other Ubisoft games. Although previous patches addressed major problems in Star Wars: Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, lingering performance issues remain. Players of Assassin's Creed Odyssey are advised to delay updating to Windows 11 24H2 until a dedicated patch is released to avoid potential gameplay disruptions.
This incident highlights a concerning oversight. Initial reports of game incompatibility surfaced five months before the official 24H2 rollout, suggesting a failure to adequately address the problem before the widespread update. This is particularly troubling given Microsoft's push for Windows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11. Fortunately, the majority of games appear unaffected by this update.
