Crusader Kings 3 Devs Share Initial Insights on Nomad-Themed DLC

Paradox Interactive has revealed initial details about their upcoming Crusader Kings 3 expansion, centered around nomadic rulers. This DLC introduces a novel governance system specifically designed for nomadic peoples, featuring a unique currency called "herd." The size of the "herd" directly influences the ruler's power and impacts various aspects of gameplay, including military might, cavalry unit composition, relationships with vassals, and other core mechanics.

The nomadic lifestyle necessitates constant movement, a key element reflected in the expansion. A chieftain's migrations will be determined by various factors, requiring them to either negotiate with settled populations or forcibly displace them.

Furthermore, rulers will command transportable yurts, similar to the adventurer's camp mechanic. These yurts can be upgraded with components offering a range of benefits.

The expansion also introduces iconic yurt towns, which nomadic kings will carry with them, mirroring the functionality of adventurer camps. These mobile settlements can be improved by adding structures that provide diverse advantages.
