Dynasty Warriors: Origins - Recycling Old Coins Guide

Quick Links

Exploring the overworld in Dynasty Warriors: Origins can be quite rewarding, offering you various resources that will enhance your gameplay in future battles. While you might be busy farming Pyroxene for crafting gems, you'll also stumble upon Old Coins, which might seem mysterious at first but become invaluable as you progress.

There are multiple ways to acquire Old Coins, and with hundreds available in the game, you'll soon amass a good collection. Let's delve into what you can use these Old Coins for and the various methods to obtain them.

What To Use Old Coins For In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Initially, you won't be able to utilize Old Coins during the first chapter of the game, so it's best to focus on advancing the main storyline. Once you reach Chapter 2, make sure to complete the following main story battles:

  • Suppression of You Province
  • Suppression of Jing Province
  • Suppression of Liang Province

Upon completing these battles, you'll return to the city of Ji and encounter a character named Sima Hui. After your conversation and a quick errand to fetch incense for the Innkeeper, the Shui Jing Retreat will appear in the overworld, conveniently located next to Ji. Here, you can interact with Sima Hui and finally put your Old Coins to good use. Besides checking your bonds and revisiting old interactions, you can exchange your Old Coins for a variety of rewards.

It's crucial to turn in your Old Coins whenever you pass by, as rewards are awarded based on reaching specific milestones.

How To Get Old Coins In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

With a total of 500 Old Coins to collect in the game, it's not advisable to focus on farming them early on. Instead, you'll naturally unlock more ways to gather them as you progress. Here are the various methods to obtain Old Coins:

  • Finding them in the overworld: Keep an eye out for the small icon that represents Old Coins, which only appears when you're close.
  • Bond Interactions: Engage in interactions with your companions and officers to receive Old Coins.
  • Letters at the Inn: After certain story moments, check the Inn for letters that might contain Old Coins.
  • Regional Peace rewards: Collect these rewards at Waypoints.

When searching for Old Coins in the overworld, remember that their icon is quite small and only visible when you're nearby, unlike the more noticeable Pyroxene. The rewards you can get from Old Coins vary in usefulness, but by focusing on enjoying the game, you'll naturally accumulate them over time.
