Previous NINJA GAIDEN 2 Titles
NINJA GAIDEN 2 Black is the fifth release in the NINJA GAIDEN 2 series. The original NINJA GAIDEN 2 debuted in 2008 exclusively on the Xbox 360, marking the first Team Ninja game not published by Tecmo. Koei Tecmo later released an enhanced version, NINJA GAIDEN Sigma 2, in 2009 for the PS3, which was modified to meet Germany's censorship requirements after the original was banned there due to excessive gore.
In 2013, Team Ninja released NINJA GAIDEN Sigma 2 Plus for the PS Vita, an updated version that reintroduced the gore elements and added new features like Hero mode, Ninja race, and Turbo. Finally, the NINJA GAIDEN Master Collection, released in 2021 across multiple platforms including PS4, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, included NINJA GAIDEN Sigma, NINJA GAIDEN Sigma 2, and NINJA GAIDEN 3: Razor’s Edge.
New And Returning Features
NINJA GAIDEN 2 Black restores the beloved gore elements that fans missed in NINJA GAIDEN Sigma 2, which had toned down the violence and reduced enemy numbers. The game also brings back fan-favorite characters Ayane, Momiji, and Rachel as playable characters alongside Ryu Hayabusa.
According to Team Ninja's official website, NINJA GAIDEN 2 Black introduces the "HERO PLAY STYLE" mode, which provides additional support in challenging scenarios, making the game more accessible. The game also features refined combat balancing and adjusted enemy placements to enhance the experience over previous titles.
Developed on Unreal Engine 5, NINJA GAIDEN 2 Black aims to satisfy both long-time fans and newcomers experiencing it as a modern action game. This version represents a definitive and modern take on the cult classic.
