Balatro, the indie roguelike developed by a single person, continues its phenomenal success story. Initially surprising players and critics alike, the game has now sold over 5 million copies, a milestone celebrated by both developer LocalThunk and publisher Playstack.
Just a month ago, sales figures stood at 3.5 million. This explosive growth of 1.5 million copies in approximately 40 days is largely attributed to the impact of The Game Awards, as hinted by the developer.
Playstack CEO Harvey Elliott lauded this achievement, expressing pride in both the developer and his team. The game's ongoing success is further evidenced by its recent peak concurrent player record on Steam and its continued updates, including exciting collaborative additions. Balatro's popularity clearly remains strong nearly a year after its release.
