ASTRA: Knights of Veda is set to remove its English voiceovers following maintenance scheduled for January 23, 2025. Dive into the details of this language adjustment and its implications for the game.
ASTRA: Knights of Veda Removing English Dubbing After Maintenance
The developers at FLINT have decided to remove English dubbing from ASTRA: Knights of Veda on January 23, 2025, aiming to enhance "game stability and higher-quality localizations." This decision was announced on January 20, as part of a broader Language Support adjustment to improve the game's localization and ensure its stability.
During the regular maintenance on January 23, support for several languages including German, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, and Italian will be discontinued. However, the game will continue to support Korean, English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, French, Thai, and Russian.
While English language support remains intact, the in-game English voiceovers will be removed. Post-maintenance, players outside Korea will find their In-Game Voice option automatically set to Japanese. FLINT has reassured players that these changes will not impact their ability to chat in any of the languages previously supported.
Despite potential concerns from fans, FLINT is committed to enhancing the gaming experience, promising to "continue to do our best to provide better services and experiences for our Masters of the Book."
Other Gacha Games That Removed English Voiceovers
FLINT isn't alone in this decision; several other gacha games have also moved away from English voice-over support. Square Enix’s War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, Yostar Games’ Aether Gazer, and Amazing Seasun Games’ Snowbreak: Containment Zone have all taken similar steps.
In May 2024, Square Enix announced the removal of English voice-overs for future content in War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, starting from Main Story Part 3, Chapter 8, and Another Story Chapter 3, Scene 7. Existing chapters will retain their English voice-overs, but new content will default to Japanese. This shift was made to prioritize Japanese voice-overs in future content.
Aether Gazer's developers made a similar announcement in February 2024, deciding to remove all English voice-overs post the "Crepuscular Cloudsong" update due to financial constraints. The focus shifted towards improving gameplay, performance, and future content.
Snowbreak: Containment Zone followed suit in December 2023, removing English voice-overs starting with Version 1.4 after evaluating player preferences and aiming to optimize the gaming experience. Some content will automatically switch to Japanese voice-over.
These decisions reflect a broader trend in the gacha gaming industry, where developers are focusing on language preferences and resource allocation. Prioritizing languages preferred by the majority of players and reallocating resources can help sustain the game over time, allowing developers to enhance aspects that players value most.
