Remedy Entertainment's ambition is to become a leading force in the gaming industry. Inspired by Naughty Dog, particularly their Uncharted series, Alan Wake 2 director Kyle Rowley stated their goal is to be "the European equivalent" of the renowned studio.
Rowley, in a Behind The Voice podcast interview, explained how this aspiration shaped both Quantum Break and Alan Wake 2's development. He explicitly stated their aim: "We should aspire to be the European version of Naughty Dog."
This influence is clear in Alan Wake 2's cinematic presentation, praised for its stunning visuals and captivating narrative. The game's success firmly established Remedy's position as a top European developer.
Remedy's aspirations extend beyond the horror genre. Naughty Dog's mastery of cinematic single-player experiences, exemplified by Uncharted and The Last of Us (a PlayStation cornerstone and one of gaming's most acclaimed franchises), serves as a benchmark.
Over a year post-launch, Alan Wake 2 continues receiving updates to enhance gameplay across all platforms. These improvements include significant optimizations for the PS5 Pro, introducing a "Balanced" graphics mode that combines elements of the Performance and Quality modes.
These updates also refined Alan Wake 2's graphical settings, resulting in smoother frame rates and reduced visual noise. In addition to the PS5 Pro enhancements, several minor gameplay bugs, particularly within the Lake House expansion, have been addressed.
