Capcom Launches First-Ever Game Development Competition for Students
Capcom is fostering industry growth through education with its inaugural Capcom Games Competition. This student-focused tournament aims to invigorate the video game industry by bridging the gap between academia and industry. The competition provides a unique opportunity for students to learn from industry professionals and potentially see their creations commercialized.
Boosting Game Development Talent
This initiative represents Capcom's commitment to nurturing future game development talent. By leveraging its proprietary RE ENGINE, students will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge game development processes. Teams of up to 20 students will collaborate on game creation over a six-month period, receiving mentorship from experienced Capcom developers.
The competition's structure mirrors real-world game development, assigning roles based on industry job types. This collaborative approach ensures a comprehensive learning experience, preparing students for future careers. Winning teams will receive invaluable game production support, with the potential for commercial release of their projects.
Eligibility and Timeline
The competition is open to Japanese students (18 years or older) enrolled in universities, graduate schools, or vocational schools. Applications open December 9, 2024, and close January 17, 2025.
The Power of RE ENGINE
